Local gallery, Recoat is hooking up with new promotions company, Pigeon and Dr Sneaker to put on a collaborative exhibition from two heavy hitting UK artists in Warsaw this summer.
It’s very hush-hush just now but there will be more info to follow soon, and it will be well worth it…
Image Of The Day

In the late 19th and early 20th century, enigmatic photographer T. Enami (1859-1929) captured a number of 3D stereoviews depicting life in Meiji-period Japan.
Stereoscopy is the enhancement of the illusion of depth in a photograph, movie, or other two-dimensional image by presenting a slightly different image to each eye, and thereby adding the first of these cues (stereopsis) as well. It is important to note that the second cue is still not satisfied and therefore the illusion of depth is incomplete. Originally, there would have been two images side by side viewed through a Sterescope to recreate a 3D image. Now if we alternate the two in a quick animation we can acheive the same effect.

Thunder Disco Club 1st Birthday
by Spacewood on May.10, 2010, under Glasgow, Nights Out
On June 11th, Thunder Disco Club will be taking stage at the infamous 3,000 capacity GSA Degree Show Street Party alongside Art School Residents & Glasgow’s Finest. To Celebrate their first birthday, come nightfall, the festivities will migrate to upstairs at the art school, commencing with the long awaited live performance of harmonic hedonists MILK and garnished with a healthy portion of funkadelic sounds from the Thunder Disco Club until a three o’clock close.
The retro chic aesthetic has always been integral to the clubs character & their 1st Birthday will see this focus raised to new heights. Thunder Disco Club will be teaming up with half man half seagull, visual enthusiast Joe Crogan, whose post modern view of triangles and tiny virtual landscapes of futurist colour, laser slime and mutant faces will visually assault and detain the brains of partygoers everywhere. The Art School’s main hall will be enclosed for the first time for a 360 degree visual experience that aims to achieve climactic responses from the overly-cultured senses of the Degree show party.

Matt Furie

Matt Furie is an artist from San Francisco, CA. On first impression, these nightmarish, psychotronic influenced lands of wonder may repulse. For me, I can’t help it – I would love a chance to be able peak inside his mind.

Milk
by Spacewood on May.04, 2010, under Glasgow, Music
Milk are one of the best up and coming bands in Glasgow at the moment. Having only been together for a few months and played 4 gigs, this doesn’t show whilst watching them perform a head-nodding, foot tapping treat of infectious music. A must-see live. Keep your eyes peeled for these guys.
Here’s what Milk have to say:
“Behind the fairground a little place with greasy windows sells shakes to ex-cons. A sweat-stained dishtowel reads: “The milk is in the mix”. An old Wurlitzer burbles in the corner where the dead dog used to keep time. Dylan told us it was a double-dog and now we know why. There was a party where our godfather, a bone basically, in a leather smock, asked us what the hell we had done?
Bought yellow stockings with Bowie, we thought. Drank dying shandies near Waits, who chain-smoked with ceremony, we suspected. Snuck up on Wonder and finished his cryptic. We got the gun, joined a club and went to Boston, OK! We gave Arthur Lee love in an anthracite ziggurat and ironed out the kinks with Frank. We got fed-up with Elvis. We tippy-toed for miles with Reed who got spooked by Can’s fifteen year scream. We murmured with Jagger about death in country houses. In Morrison’s Rest, no less, we sat suckling optics with: “Who?” Finally, we fell to a Tangerine Dream Sleep in the labyrinth of Kate and Joni’s hair, awaking penniless to the chime of a city clock.
At the fag-end of this particular carnival, four ragged young men will dance, hopelessly out of time and tune, for your sticky coins. Ladies, gentlemen, please: before the Milk goes off.”
Update: Milk will be playing the following: Stag and Dagger – 22nd may, Art School Degree Show – 11 June, Captains Rest – 27th June. Be there.

Klingatron got in contact to share a glimpse of him at work in Aberdeen. I was impressed to see just how delicate his stencils are, but at 1:14, when he scrunches it up…pfft i had to look away!

Secret Wars: Glasgow vs Bristol
by Spacewood on Apr.28, 2010, under Art, Glasgow, Graffiti
Tonight at Sub Club, Glasgow will be taking on Banksy’s home town of Bristol in their second leg of Secret Wars. Representing Glasgow is, Rekor, Conzo & Elph.
After Glasgow’s dissapointing 2-1 defeat to Malmo in the last round, be sure to head down to give as much support as you can. 16 European cities are partaking in this and tackling the might of Bristol, Inkie, Cheo and Andy Council. This should prove to be a fun and competitive night.
£4 in, £1.50 beers and Spectrum DJs are playing afterwards. Mm, Can you smell the ink vapours?
