Gordon Burniston

Gordon’s photographs tend to have the ability, to capture a certain tranquil and sedate atmosphere. His exterior shots, appear to be charmed from within a studio. His portraits are uncontrolled and intrinsic, but they still manage to exude a folksy, unassuming and strikingly beautiful image. The pastel colours, hushed atmosphere and placid disposition comforts the viewer and allows the photographs to be enjoyed time after time. You can see more here.

After spending four years getting a degree in something he didn’t want to follow, Gordon Burniston, decided to go back to college and study photography for a few years at the Metropolitan in Glasgow.

In 2008, when he finished, his work was exhibited at the Association of Photographers gallery in London as part of the AOP student awards. The same year he was named as the Sunday Herald’s young fashion photographer of the year. Since then he has been assisting and working with some of Scotlands most respected photographers, including David Eustace, Stephen Kearney and Armando Ferrari.

He is now in the fortunate position of being able to work for himself and has been running his own succesful studio in Merchant City, for 10 months. You can also enjoy his blog here.
